Step-by-Step: How to Empty Your Drain After Surgery

Choose a preferred language

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hold your bulb upright so no fluid pours out. Open the bulb cap. Read how much fluid is currently in the bulb. Squeeze all of the fluid out into a measuring cup. Squeeze the empty bulb to get all of the air out. Close the bulb cap. Record how much fluid was poured into the measuring cup. Pour the fluid from the measuring cup into a toilet to dispose of it. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
